A little of this, a little of that...
I've got a lightbox setup that a friend at work was getting rid of that I'm looking to try out. I've got a space marine that I've working on that I hope to use it with before the weekend.
I've also tried my hand at stripping paint off some used models with mixed results. The metal models stripped in Simple Green with ease. I also tried a few with Easy Off and it works AMAZING in only 2 hours. Plastic on the other hand has been soaking for around 30 hours with mixed results. They're getting a bit more bath time and then I'll try again. The Easy Off had nearly no effect on the plastics though.
I've also added a Works in Progress bar on the side of the site to track what I'm working on. I have more to add, but for now, I wanted to start with something I'm ACTUALLY working on; not something I WANT to work on.
Very little real work has been done on Colette's crew. I'm focusing entirely on my space marine until I've completed it. Once it's done, I want to see if I can keep a decent level of quality and blending on the rest of my models without going insane with the time spent.

I should say anything...

... because every time I do, this rumor then dries up and goes away.
Which sucks, because I would LOVE to see an update to the Inquisition/Grey Knights. That said, I'm skipping all the rumors I see for this so that I don't jinx it.
In other news, I'll be attending Mathieu Fontaine's Masterclass in Austin and I'm pretty excited. All my painting experience un to now has been self-taught by trial and error. I'm really looking forward to the class and hope to learn alot from this.

My wife sent me this earlier today: Mek Tater
AMAZING work on this awesome model. If you hadn't seen it, it's definitely worth checking out.

Goodbye Daemons, Hello 8th Edition...
I wasn't going to post this on my blog, but I've changed my mind...
I am selling my Daemons of Chaos/Chaos Daemons army on eBay: link
There's a TON of models included, and while I'm not overjoyed to be selling them, I've thought about it, and I think I have too many armies for my games.
I've found that I just like so many games that I end up with too many toys taking up too much room around the house. My wife and I are working on a kid, and my game room will eventually be the baby's room. To help out, I'm trying to narrow down to just a single army for Warhammer Fantasy and 40k. While I love playing these games, they are the largest space investment out of all my gaming, and letting go of the Daemons will let me have enough room to fit my entire Flames of War Americans, Field of Glory Spartans, Warmachine Cryx, AND Malifaux Guild/Neverborn on the shelves. All that extra space by getting rid of one army? That's a trade I can't afford to pass on.
So it sucks a little bit, but I think I'm making the right choice (and my wife has an unpaid internship next semester, so the money helps). I didn't want this army to go to waste though, so to make sure that anyone who gets it can use it, I've thrown in my extra rulers, templates, trays, etc... I'd like to think that some new player will end up with this, and having everything needed, fine a new game they love.
That said, I'm still keeping my Lizardmen for Fantasy, and more and more, I'm looking forward to 8th edition. Originally, I was a bit iffy on the changes to Magic and how it would mess wiht my Slann and Engine of the Gods, but having thought about it more, I think I'm seeing some good combos and synergies that might be popping up that are new.
I've been getting slammed at work with new clients and major projects, but things are starting to level out again, and I'm hoping to get a few 8th edition practice games in before it comes out. I still have lots of painting to do too, but my pink marine is nearly done (pics this weekend). Also, I was the winner of The Painting Corps giveaway, and I'm planning to start on the High Elf Lord on Dragon early next week and will be doing posts of it in progress as I work on it.

Woohoo!!!
I was about to turn in for the night, but ended up checking the newsreader beforehand. Ended up being a good time too; Unless there's another Robert B. form Texas who reads The Painting Corps, I WON!
I'm super-excited about this. It's an amazing model, and I'm looking forward to working on it. I've been working on a few smaller projects... details about a pink Space Marine (there's a reason) and a mostly-pink Malifaux Ronin should be coming soon. I'm planning to post pics of those once they are done.
If this did end up being me, then this is the time I need to start taking pictures as I work on a model so that I can see each step better and see any improvement areas.
I've got a busy weekend coming up, but I should have some pictures in the next few days.
Also, Thursday, I got to spend some time with the new 8th Edition rulebook and I'm liking what I see. The changes to charges being random, the beefed up magic, the brutal close combat... I was a bit on the fence with all the rumors, but I'm thinking now that this might end up being pretty awesome. Alot of others at my FLGS are liking what they see too, so we could see WFB getting a bit of a revival, which would be nice.
